A new bar and grab-and-go space designed as part of the renovation of one of Atlantic City's most established luxury hotels.
The spaces are located directly adjacent to the main hotel lobby — the first areas guests encounter on arrival. The mandate was to introduce a fresh layer of warmth and contemporary refinement while remaining deeply respectful of the building's existing architectural identity and prestige.
The Bar
The design takes its cues from the hotel's own architectural vocabulary — particularly the curved forms and ornamental details of the iconic grand staircase visible from the lobby. Arch-shaped moldings frame the walls in sage green, translating this established language into a contemporary interior that feels both rooted and renewed. The palette is built on aged gold, green marble, warm timber and terracotta leather — materials that evoke old-world luxury without recreating it.
The defining element of the bar is a large-scale perforated gold metal screen that rises to define and sectorize the bar area, commanding the full height of the 18-foot (approximately 5.5-meter) volume. A matching decorative fixture at its center serves as both sculptural focal point and functional element — bottles hang from it, and pendant lights in the same material cascade down to illuminate the counter below. Behind the bar, a custom millwork composition of mirrors and gold detailing provides storage while reinforcing the material language throughout. The bar counter itself is clad in green marble with aged brass trim.
Seating was designed to maximize capacity while maintaining comfort and circulation. A continuous sitting booth in terracotta leather runs the length of the long wall, punctuated by planters that both conceal structural columns and contribute to the human scale of the space. Custom island seating units in the center of the room create semi-private zones, each divided by its own integrated planter. Sage green accent chairs, terracotta leather bar stools and occasional armchairs complete the seating mix. Oversized chandeliers in aged brass address the double-height volume directly, while accent lighting within the arched wall panels adds depth and detail at eye level.
The Grab and Go
Directly adjacent to the bar and accessible from the lobby, the grab-and-go area maintains the same aesthetic with careful adaptation. Shelving units framed by the same arch moldings display products with the same sense of considered presentation. The back wall features a green marble surface — echoing the bar counter — with a concealed door leading to the kitchen. A planter at the entry creates continuity with the bar and introduces a note of green visible directly from the lobby. Lighting follows the chandelier language of the bar, scaled to the smaller footprint of the space.
Both spaces were delivered as full concept and design projects, including moodboard, layout development, material and finish specifications, custom furniture design and 3D visualization.
